The West Coast: SC3 2011
The Southern California Classic Collectors (SC3) arcade parties are a March tradition on the west coast. Each year, classic gaming enthusiasts gather their equipment from the arcade cabinets of yesteryear to the homebrew carts of tomorrow and have a one-night all-in free-play. This year was the first time the SC3 went from private home to popular local art gallery (Gallery Nucleus), which meant meant more people, more games and LIVE Chiptune performances.
Where else in California can you find someone to help you make an NES GuitarHero controller, partake in a live GameGavel auction, play an arcade retrofit of Abobo’s Big Adventure, all while listening to music from 8-Bit Weapon, ComputeHer (and her Commodore piano keyboard overlay), Mr. Spastic, and Wizwars?
The official page of SC3 2011 coverage from the collectors themselves, their official image gallery, Roger Barr’s gallery, and coverage from local news hub, the Alhambra Source.
Also, try out Abobo’s Big Adventure for yourself, and listen to samples from 8-Bit Weapon, ComputeHer, Mr. Spastic, and Wizwars!
